Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can you change your tutorials to meet our training needs?
A: All of our tutorials are custom built. We discuss your training goals, create a training plan and use your screens to develop your lessons. See Methodology for information on how we work with you to develop your tutorials.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: Every computer-based training program is different. Simple lessons take less time to develop than very complicated ones, so the costs can vary widely. We are happy to provide estimates for custom computer-based training programs with no obligation.

Q: How do we justify the cost of computer-based training?
A: Our clients report cost savings through the use of computer-based training in several areas: 1) Clinicians are not required to leave their work area or schedule time away from work to attend training classes. 2) Educators are not required to develop training materials, outlines and exercises. 3) Trainers are not needed to conduct the classes. One client reported a cost savings of $400,000 or 8 FTEs through the use of computer-based training for a software upgrade.

Q: Is your training SCORM compliant?
A: Yes, our computer-based training lessons meet the Shareable Content Object Reference Model standard for online training courses. By their very nature, SCORM compliant courses are "reusable, accessible, interoperable and durable."

Q: Do you offer computer-based training tutorials for applications other than Meditech?
A: Yes. Computer-based training tutorials can be developed for any of your clinical and non-clinical applications and for keyboard-driven as well as mouse-driven software.

Q: Do you have any off-the-shelf tutorials for teaching Meditech?
A: Unfortunately, Meditech applications vary extensively from one facility to the next so it is difficult to develop meaningful training that can be used across multiple environments. The success of our tutorials comes from the fact that they are a perfect mirror of your system, using your mnemonics, hot keys and screen designs. We do have several very affordable "semi-custom" options which place your screens in pre-defined training modules.

Q: How long does it take to develop the tutorials?
A: Development time varies depending on the level of complexity of the application. Most lessons can be created in from 30 to 90 days.

Q: What software is used to create the tutorials?
A: Our computer-based training modules are developed using an authoring tool called DemoShield, from the makers of InstallShield.

Q: How do you deliver the computer-based training and is any special software required?
A: Tutorials can be delivered via a CD-browser that runs locally on one PC, via a Local Area Network, or in a web-enabled format that will run via a hospital's intranet. The web-enabled version requires the installation of a DemoNow plugin which is available free of charge from DemoShield.

Q: I can't see the DemoNow button when I try to run the CBTs via the web. Are there any settings I need to change on my PC?
A: Your PC settings may not allow you to install programs. Click here to download instructions on how to install the DemoNow plugin.

Q: Can the tutorials be run via a learning platform such as NetLearning and HealthStream?
A: Absolutely. Our tutorials can be packaged to run via LAN and web-based learning systems.
